Come in and learn more about the workshops in peron. There's no obligation to attend all 8 workshops. Look at them as open studio times to work on your website with expert support with a little bit of informal instruction at the beggining.

We're going to review the most popular services like Cargo Collective, Indexhibit, Wordpress and Virb to find the one that fits you best. We'll jump right in and start the process of uploading your work to the service of your choice. Configuring each service, choosing themes and comparing the flexibility of each will tell us what works best for what type of work and website style. Get a simple site up and running without any code.

Tonight we'll do a walkthrough of choosing and purchasing a domain name and go over how to connect it to an site hosted on a service. Get help navigating the tricky waters of hosting providers and service upgrades. Having the perfectly personalized domain name is important and we'll discuss creative ways to find what you want. If you want hosting to go along with your domain (if you're using Indexhibit or planning on building your own site in later workshops) we'll discuss different rates and providers.

We'll explore the full range of possibilities for customizing your service-based website. Built-in themes can only get you so far before you have to get under the hood to get things the way you like them. So far the majority of your site has been built without code but we'll start to look into what a few lines can do to extend your site.

We'll use this workshop as a general timeslot to work on your site with support from web-savvy students and alum. I'll walk around and talk to you one on one about how your site's going. Come in with questions and issues with your site.

In the final workshop we'll continue to tinker with and customize our individual sites to our liking. We'll add custom images to the design, and add branding, colors or third-party plugins to make the site really yours
